In a night filled with celebration and recognition, Cody emerged as a shining star at the Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland, 2023 Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards. Cody’s dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence propelled him to the top, earning him the prestigious title of ‘School Based Apprentice of the Year.’

Australian Industry Trade College (AITC) Year 11 student from the Gold Coast, Cody’s journey to success is nothing short of inspiring. Starting early in his career with a school-based apprenticeship in 2022 while in Year 10, he is diligently working hard towards completing his Year 12 Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Throughout his journey at the AITC Cody has demonstrated an unwavering passion for the plumbing industry and his tenacity and commitment did not go unnoticed by the judging panel, who were thoroughly impressed by his accomplishments to date.

Cody’s professional journey has been greatly influenced by his time at S & C Plumbing Services on the Gold Coast. His employer, undoubtedly proud of his achievements, has consistently praised Cody’s impeccable work ethic, remarkable adaptability to feedback, and unwavering commitment to the job. These qualities not only define him as an exceptional apprentice but also as a future leader in the plumbing and gas sector.

Some of Cody’s standout qualities are his unwavering commitment to meticulous work and safety on the job site. His dedication to these principles ensures he consistently delivers high-quality results while prioritising the well-being of himself, his colleagues, and the community at large. It is these very principles that undoubtedly pave the way for Cody’s promising future in the plumbing industry.

There was more than one AITC student being recognised at the Awards, with Jack and Lachlan also being named as finalists for school-based apprentice of the year. Jack was signed-up with GL Plumbing and Gas Pty Ltd and Lachlan was signed-up with GEP Plumbing.

Mark Bohan, Principal of the Gold Coast AITC, expressed his pride in the achievements of his students, saying, “We are immensely proud of Cody, Jack, and Lachie for their outstanding performances at the 2023 Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards. Natalie Chanter, the AITC’s Industry Operations Manager who attended the night, emphasised the importance of acknowledging the AITC staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes, supporting students both in their industry placements and education. Their unwavering commitment to providing a supportive learning environment is what allows our students to excel in their chosen fields.
