Redlands Two Year (2) Program Plus Industry Quickstart Program

Two and a Half Year Senior Program

At the Redlands campus, there are two options for enrolling in a senior program:

1. Enrolment  in Year 11 and 12 

  • Intake every January and July for Year 11
  • Intake January only for Year 12

2. Senior Program (Year 11 & 12) Plus Industry Quickart (IQ) Program (A senior preparation for Young People who have completed Semester 1 of  Year 10)

  • Start in the six month IQ Program
  • Followed by the Year 11 & 12 Senior Program
  • Intake for IQ Program in July only

The AITC Program has 4 equally important components:

  1. Academic curriculum that contributes credits for a Queensland Certificate of Education
  2. College developed curriculum
  3. Work placement
  4. Pre-Employment and Trade Training

Component 1: Academic Curriculum

The Academic Curriculum has a combination of the following:

  • English (English Communication)
  • Literacy (A College developed course designed to develop the literacy skills required for our program)
  • Maths (Pre-Vocational Maths)
  • Numeracy (A College developed course designed to develop the numeracy skills required for our program)
  • Cert I and II Information Digital Media Technology
  • Cert I,II and possibly III Business

Component 2: College Developed Curriculum

This curriculum is embedded within and supplementary to the academic curriculum:

  • Core Skills for Work Program (Employability Skills)
  • Wisdom and Character Program
  • Wellbeing and Fitness Program
  • Leadership Program
  • Service and Citizenship Program

Component 3: Work Placement

Young people will attend work placements leading to the attainment of a school based apprenticeship or traineeship.

Component 4: Pre- Employment and Trade Training

In Year 1 or 2 young people participate in training at Cert I or II level. Once a young person has been signed into an apprenticeship or traineeship they commence the associated Cert III trade training.

Industry Quickstart (IQ) Program

The IQ Program is a program for Year 10 students available at the Redlands Campus only. The customised program will provide young people a ‘QUICKSTART’ into industry before starting their senior program at the AITC.

The IQ Program:

  • Young people join the IQ Program for six months from July to December
  • Young people will be required to follow the AITC enrolment and selection process and will be ‘invited’ to join the IQ Program based on a set criteria
  • The Program will include Literacy, Numeracy, Work Studies, Industry Engagement, Pre-Apprenticeship Training, Contemporary Studies, Health & Wellbeing as well as work experience, a mentor program, and industry site visits
  • All work experience is individualised, structured and closely monitored
  • Limited places are available.
